Denise speck
Co- director
Denise is a multi-disciplinary researcher in sustainable entrepreneurship from Germany and lived for the past seven years in The Netherlands. Born and raised in a small German village, she has always been triggered by exploring the unknown and creating impact, especially when it comes to cultural heritage and environmental biodiversities.
Thanks to life’s beautiful coincidences – meeting the right people, at the right time – and her passion for visually meaningful expressions, she developed a passion for analogue film photography. During travels around Latin America, Asia or Europe she is always accompanied by her camera and hunts for the most authentic shots of her surroundings. Her goal is to share the very essence of these stories to become more conscious beings and create awareness about our all, true heritage.
Today, she works as a Storytelling Consultant for an organic, fine cocoa cluster in Trinidad and Tobago. Her insights into the dynamics of cocoa cultivation and relationships with the farmers provide the base for this short film she co-directs with the talented Oliver Milne.
Dylan Quesnel
Cinematographer/Editor
With no formal education in the field, Dylan started working as an intern in a local production company 11 years ago. He started doing everything from photography to video production and editing. With the concept of digital content being fresh to him, he dabbled in all facets of content creation and quickly realized that his passion was in Cinematography.
With the ultimate goal of becoming proficient in Cinematography, Dylan has honed his craft by shooting documentaries of his own and working as AC under experienced local and international Cinematographers.
Dylan tries to approach visuals with simplicity and purpose. He works in all tiers of the camera department to get a full grasp of the ins and outs of the world of motion picture.
The idea of analog motion picture capture is both a challenge and a joy for Dylan. “The beauty of film lies in its organic nature and superior ability to capture and reproduce colour”. He treats it as a discipline and an opportunity to embrace the beauty of chance and imperfection.
oliver milne
Film assistant DOP Co-director,
They say we bask in a different kind of light in the Caribbean.
Award-winning Director and Cinematographer Oliver Milne has built his craft through capturing that light and the stories that unfold beneath it through his lens with colour, warmth and humour.
Deeply introspective, he is passionate about storytelling and the process of discovery that he embarks on every project. Working through complex ideas and stories, he seeks to unearth connections not yet considered. This process of exploration mirrors his appreciation for working the limitless possibilities of analogue – his preferred medium.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the magic of storytelling in movies. Especially in tactile and older techniques. A love for all things analogue and handmade, rather than a production line of perfectly made things.”
Oliver’s work is an alchemy of process and exploration that seeks to provoke his audience to think further about the human condition and our relationships to ourselves, to others, with technology and nature.
“I am not seeking perfection, I believe there is beauty in life’s happy accidents.”
Jelani Serette
Sound recordist
Stumbling into Film, Jelani’s journey started as a backyard photographer fascinated by hummingbirds. This love grew into video which eventually lead him to various supporting roles on film sets where he quickly made a home for himself.
He was first introduced to sound as a PA and instantly fell in love, he has since focused his energy and efforts into sound mastery continuing his autodidact journey.
As his knowledge and experience grows he was eager to be part of an analog project as all his experiences prior were digital.
“I think of sound as an invisible painting that you can’t help but feel, an experience that has the power to lead your mind beyond what you see.”
